Looking Northwest, from the bridge between the Notre-Dame towers. In the center: St. Eustache, to the right, on the hill (Montmartre) the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur. |
An intensive, on-sight introduction to the tradition and performance of French pipe organ music from the 17th century to the present. Integral to the performance and understanding of this music is visiting France to hear and play the historic organs that influenced French organ composers through the centuries. Hearing organs in their liturgical context, hearing the language and getting to know French musicians and the culture can also inform understanding and performing this genre of music.

Nice blogs! Great pix. Weather looks accordingly cooperative. Clarify something for me s.v.p. Is St. Eustache designated as a "cathedral" as per your picture description? I thought N.D. was the main one, with lots of basilica churches scattered about. Maybe "sub-cathedral"?
ReplyDeleteHope the vin rouge is tres bien and satisfies all of your educated pallets.
Weather in IA is spectacularly warm - almost 69 a few days ago....we leave for CA and the SW almost reluctantly from these tropical climes!
